From: Executive Assistant to Mark Machin, President and CEO
To: Associate, External Affairs, Public Affairs and Communications, Toronto
CPP Investments History:
I started my tenure in Public Affairs and Communications, as Executive Assistant to Lisa Baiton (MD, Head of Global Public Affairs) and am returning to the department after seven years in the Office of the President & CEO.
I’ve worked at the Fund during a period of tremendous growth and have built strong relationships across the organization. I look forward to building more as a member of the External Affairs team.
What CPPIB taught you and how will you apply that in your new role:
- Be open to continually learning, growing and developing your skill set – see the learning opportunity in everything you’re tasked with.
- Never overlook the importance of connection and collaboration with colleagues. I’ve learned to continue building my network throughout every phase of my career.
- Anticipate needs by taking initiative – don’t wait around to be told what to do; don’t make any assumptions, either, ask smart questions and you will earn endless opportunities to add value.
What is something that might surprise some colleagues?
I am an avid runner. I previously competed in track and field, and cross-country running beginning in elementary school.
