Investment Engineering & Analytics develops and manages a data and analytics ecosystem for Capital Markets & Factor Investing’s strategies. The ecosystem includes foundational data sets, signals and models, and libraries and tools for constructing and analyzing portfolios over a wide range of asset classes. IEA works with investment teams to develop data, analytics, and technologies to support current programs and in pursuit of new investment opportunities, and actively seeks to collaborate and share with other departments.
The team operates from CPP Investments’ Toronto and Hong Kong offices.

Hongfei Xi
Managing Director, Head of Investment Engineering & Analytics
Hongfei currently leads the Investment Engineering & Analytics group. He has been with CPP Investments since 2006. He originally led Data Engineering for Capital Markets & Factor Investing before taking on his current role, building and leading the quantitative equity investment system.
Prior to joining CPP Investments he worked on the sell-side with a focus on risk systems.
Hongfei holds a Ph.D. in Nuclear Physics from Chinese Academy of Sciences.
