Peter Busse

Senior Principal, Portfolio Value Creation

Peter is involved in identifying and implementing value creation opportunities across CPP Investments’ direct equity investments portfolio. He has led a range of efforts across the Fund’s private equity and real assets and has also led the development of the cross-portfolio approach to platforms.

Peter has 18 years of value creation and management advisory experience. His areas of expertise include EBITDA improvements focusing on cost reduction efforts, carve-outs and post-merger integration, operational due diligence, corporate governance, and management incentive programs. Prior to joining CPP Investments in 2014, Peter was most recently a Director with AlixPartners LLP, where he advised clients on a range of operational efficiency and organizational effectiveness topics.

Peter currently serves on the board of Cordelio Power.

He holds an MBA from the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario and a B.Sc., First Class Honours, from Queen’s University.

Jesko Frommeyer

Senior Principal, Portfolio Value Creation

Jesko leads the monitoring efforts for the Fund’s global direct private equity portfolio and credit investment platforms.

Prior to joining CPP Investments, he was a Principal at CVC Capital Partners, spending three years in the operations team with a focus on financial services, healthcare and entertainment across Europe. Before that, he spent nine years as Managing Director M&A at GE Capital International, as well as Managing Director for its German fleet leasing business. During that time he led several P&Ls, acquisitions, integrations and turnarounds. Previously, Jesko was Vice President Group Strategy and M&A at Commerzbank in Frankfurt. He also focused on turnarounds and risk management during a six-year period at McKinsey & Company and started his career in GE’s global corporate audit staff.

Jesko holds an MBA from the University of Iowa and studied business administration at the Goethe University in Frankfurt.

Cesare Ruggiero

Senior Principal, Portfolio Value Creation

Cesare is involved in helping portfolio companies identify and implement value-creation opportunities. He has led a number of value creation initiatives across CPP Investments’ private equity and infrastructure investments.

Cesare has 20 years of value creation and management advisory experience. His areas of expertise include new business growth, pricing, sales and channel effectiveness, and cost optimization. Prior to joining CPP Investments, Cesare was a Principal with Boston Consulting Group in Toronto where he advised clients in the consumer products, technology, media and telecommunications, healthcare and industrial goods sectors. Previously, he was with Capgemini Consulting (formerly CGE&Y) in Los Angeles, where he was the U.S. M&A practice leader and co-chair of the global M&A practice. He has also held management consulting roles with Motorola and a boutique advisory firm in China. Cesare started his career at the Canadian Embassy in Beijing.

Cesare serves on the Board of Directors of Neiman Marcus.

He holds a Hon. BA with High Distinction from the University of Toronto.

Polina Sims

Senior Principal, Portfolio Value Creation

Polina is involved in identifying and realizing value-creation opportunities across CPP Investments’ portfolio. She has led a number of efforts across infrastructure, direct private equity, and energy and resources portfolio companies. Polina has also led cross-fund thinking on governance practices for investee company boards and has served on CPP Investments’ Talent Council.

Polina has 18 years of value creation and strategic transformation program delivery experience. Her areas of expertise include corporate governance, productivity and cost transformation, organizational restructuring, customer discovery and customer experience, and operations. Prior to joining CPP Investments, Polina was a Principal with Boston Consulting Group in Boston, San Francisco, and Toronto, where she spent over a decade advising clients on design and implementation of strategic initiatives, serving health care, financial services, and other industries. Previously, she worked in Ukraine with a local consulting firm developing and implementing World Bank and European Union-sponsored infrastructure and restructuring initiatives.

She holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a BS in Economics from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

Kazim Tahir-Kheli

Senior Principal, Portfolio Value Creation

Kazim is involved in identifying and realizing value-creation opportunities across CPP Investments’ portfolio of material direct equity investments. He leads the governance efforts across the direct investments portfolio, as well as monitoring of the energy and resources portfolio. Kazim has led a number of value-creation efforts across the Fund’s private equity and energy and resources portfolio companies.

He has over 25 years of operating executive and management consulting experience, with areas of expertise including digital marketing, marketing strategy and operations, carve-outs, and joint venturing. Prior to joining CPP Investments, Kazim was CEO of a business unit of WPP plc in Russia, for which he was responsible for the country P&L, and also launched two digital ventures for the group. Previously, he spent more than 10 years as a management consultant, including serving as a Principal with OC&C Strategy Consultants in London where he was part of the Private Equity practice in addition to focusing on strategic planning and digital transformation. Kazim began his career as a consultant in A.T. Kearney’s Financial Services practice in New York.

He holds an A.B. from Harvard College.

Maximilian Biagosch

Managing Director, Head of Portfolio Value Creation,Real Assets

Maximilian leads CPP Investments’ Portfolio Value Creation group, supporting management teams of individual investments to achieve full value potential. Maximilian currently serves on the Boards of Liberty Living and Petco.

Prior to joining CPP Investments in 2015, Maximilian spent more than seven years at Permira Advisers LLP, focusing on private equity transactions, and was most recently responsible for the firm’s global capital markets activities. Prior to that, Maximilian was an investment banker for Deutsche Bank and BNP Paribas in London.

He is a fully qualified lawyer in Germany and holds a Masters of Law from the LMU Munich.

James Bryce

Managing Director, Portfolio Value Creation

James leads Portfolio Value Creation’s portfolio monitoring efforts across CPP Investments’ direct equity investments.

James has 24 years of investment and asset management experience. Prior to joining CPP Investments in 2012, James was a Managing Director at Royal Bank Equity Finance (the private equity arm of RBS), where he spent 10 years focused on private equity and infrastructure transactions. Prior to RBS, James was a member of the private equity team at JP Morgan Capital and he started his career as a pension fund manager at Hambros Bank.

James currently serves on the Boards of Anglian Water, Associated British Ports and Glencore Agriculture.

James holds an MA in Theology from Keble College, Oxford University.

Stephen Huntley

Stephen Huntley

Senior Principal, Portfolio Value Creation

Stephen is involved in helping CPP Investments’ portfolio companies identify and realize value creation opportunities. Since joining CPP Investments in 2012, he has worked with a number of assets across the infrastructure and private equity portfolios. Stephen developed and scaled the Fund’s approach to direct asset onboarding and is a member of the Sustainable Investing Committee and the Inclusion and Diversity Council.

Stephen has 24 years of global operational and strategic advisory experience. His areas of expertise include large-scale transformational change programs, PMI, organizational and operational improvement, and ESG. He started his career with Siemens in a number of operational roles in manufacturing, logistics and large-scale industrial projects across the U.S., Germany and China. Stephen was also a Principal at Boston Consulting Group, where he spent a decade in the industrial goods, consumer/retail and private equity sectors. While at BCG, Stephen was a leader in the Organization and Operations practices in Australia and the U.K. specializing in large scale transformations.

Stephen serves on the Board of Directors of Interparking.

He holds a First-class Masters of Engineering and Management from the University of Birmingham, and an MBA with distinction from INSEAD.

Batiste Ogier

Senior Principal, Portfolio Value Creation

Batiste’s primary role is to monitor investments in the Infrastructure portfolio and identify and implement value creation initiatives within that portfolio.

Prior to joining CPP Investments in January 2019, Batiste was a Director in the Infrastructure team at First State Investments, the investment arm of the Commonwealth Bank of Australia. Batiste represented FSI on the Board of Directors of Anglian Water Group (a co-investment with CPP Investments), as well as on the Boards of Coriance (a French energy company) and a UK Hospital PFI. In addition to various asset management initiatives, his responsibilities at FSI included origination and execution of European infrastructure M&A across multiple sectors (including utilities, oil & gas infrastructure, transport and renewables), as well as refinancings, divestment of portfolio assets, fundraising and investor relations. Prior to joining FSI, Batiste spent nine years at KPMG, working across corporate finance, transaction services and strategy consulting.

He holds a BA in European Studies from Kings College, London and is an ICAEW Chartered Accountant.

Jan Heydolph

Senior Principal, Portfolio Value Creation

Jan is involved in helping portfolio companies identify and implement value creation opportunities, with a focus on translating opportunities enabled by digital technologies into strategic and operational improvements across CPP Investments’ direct investments portfolio. He also has responsibility for the PVC team’s Asia-related activities.

Jan has more than 20 years of operating executive and management advisory experience. Prior to joining CPP Investments, he was the Head of Corporate Strategy for Volkswagen Group in China, where he helped formulate and implement key strategic initiatives. Before joining Volkswagen, he worked as a management consultant and corporate advisor in China, ASEAN and Germany, including serving as a Senior Project Manager at Roland Berger Strategy Consultants in Munich and Shanghai.

Jan holds a Masters of Law from Ludwig Maximilians University, Munich.
