Our Team
Samantha Hill
Managing Director, Sustainable Investing
Samantha is a leader in our Sustainable Investing team, overseeing global activities that consider material environmental, social and governance (ESG) matters in investments with public and private companies. Her team works alongside investment colleagues in the integration of ESG and climate change matters across the investment lifecycle.
Prior to joining CPPIB in 2007, Samantha worked in the Commercial Banking division at CIBC in senior debt financing for national accounts and real estate, and with RoyNat Capital Inc.
Samantha holds an MBA from Dalhousie University in Finance and Environmental Management.
Jason MacNeill
Managing Director, Sustainable Investing
Jason is a Managing Director in CPPIB’s Sustainable Investing team, where he helps lead climate change-related efforts across the Fund. Before Sustainable Investing, Jason worked on transactions and portfolio management in the Infrastructure team, with a focus on the Americas and Australia.
Prior to joining CPPIB, Jason spent several years in project management on large civil and industrial projects with Kiewit Corporation.
Jason holds an MBA from the Rotman School of Business at the University of Toronto, and a BASc from Queen’s University with a specialty in Civil Engineering.
He has served on the boards of Ports America Group and BAI Communications in Australia.
Maria Montero
Managing Director, Sustainable Investing
Maria is a Managing Director in the Sustainable Investing team. She joined CPPIB in 2012 to advance and co-ordinate CPP Investments’ activities in Latin America. Maria later led CPP Investments’ Relationship Management effort globally, aimed at developing stronger, deeper business relationships with the Fund’s most valued global advisors and peers.
Prior to joining CPP Investments, Maria worked at RBC Capital Markets and TD Securities on the Foreign Exchange and Fixed Income Institutional Sales Desk for Latin America and the Caribbean.
Maria holds an International MBA from the Schulich School of Business in Toronto and a B.Commerce from the University of Toronto.
David Stewart
Managing Director, Office of the Chief Sustainability Officer
David is a Managing Director in the Office of the CSO, where he helps develop, coordinate and execute CPPIB’s firm-wide sustainability strategy. Before this role, David worked on CPPIB’s enterprise strategy in its Corporate Strategy team.
Prior to joining CPPIB, David was an engagement manager for the strategy consulting practice Monitor Deloitte, focusing on pension and asset management strategies.
David holds a BA Honours Business Administration with distinction from The Richard Ivey School of Business and a BMSc Honours Specialization in Medical Science with distinction from Western University.
Richard Manley
Chief Sustainability Officer (CSO), Managing Director, and Head of Sustainable Investing
As CSO, Richard is responsible for CPP Investments’ approach to sustainability-related matters at the enterprise level, and the development of its sustainability roadmap. He works closely with our CEO and CIO to ensure the Fund maintains a global, cross-enterprise approach to sustainability and deliver on its commitment to reach net zero across the Fund and its operations by 2050.
As Head of Sustainable Investing, Richard leads the team responsible for integrating consideration of sustainability-related risks and opportunities across our investment programs. Richard is also chair of the International Sustainability Standards Board’s (ISSB) Investor Advisory Group, a member of the TCFD and the UK’s Transition Plan Taskforce.
Prior to joining CPP Investments in 2019, Richard spent 18 years at Goldman Sachs, where he was most recently Global Head of Thematic Equity and ESG Research, and Co-Head of EMEA Equity Research. Previously, he worked at Merrill Lynch, Donaldson, Lufkin and Jenrette, and Paribas Capital Markets as an Integrated Oil & Gas equity analyst.
Richard holds a Graduado Superior/BA (Hons) in European Business Administration from ICADE in Madrid.
Tim Barlow
Managing Director, Sustainable Investing
Tim is a Managing Director in the Sustainable Investing team responsible for real estate.
Prior to 2022, Tim was a Managing Director in CPPIB’s real estate equity team, responsible for origination and portfolio management across Continental Europe (ex. Germany and CEE). Before CPPIB, Tim worked at Grosvenor both on their London Estate and Fund Management business, based in Paris.
Tim holds a BSc (Hons) from Edinburgh University and a MSc in Real Estate Finance from the University of Reading. Tim is also a Member of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors.
Michael Hall
Managing Director, Sustainable Investing
Michael is a Managing Director in CPPIB’s Sustainable Investing team based in London.
Prior to his role at CPPIB, Michael spent 17 years working in various technical sustainability ESG roles, most recently establishing the ESG discipline at DPI, an emerging markets private equity firm. His prior ESG experience includes roles at the sustainability consultancy ERM and Bechtel Corporation.
Michael holds an MSc with distinction in Environmental Technology from Imperial College, London and a BSc, Zoology Major from James Cook University, Australia.
