(Bellevue, Wash. and New York, NY) October 26, 2007 - Puget Energy (NYSE:PSD), the parent company of Puget Sound Energy, a regulated utility providing electric and natural gas service to the growing Puget Sound region of western Washington, today announced that they have entered into a definitive merger agreement with a consortium of long-term infrastructure investors. The consortium is led by Macquarie Infrastructure Partners, the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board, British Columbia Investment Management Corporation, and also includes Alberta Investment Management, Macquarie-FSS Infrastructure Trust and Macquarie Bank Limited.
